In October 2018, Mechanical Refrigeration Services participated in an Emergency Response Drill held with the National City Fire Department, San Diego County Hazardous Materials Division and Harvest Meat Company, who MechRef has serviced for over 25 years. MechRef functioned as the Hazardous Materials Specialists for this drill and also provided training and information on anhydrous ammonia to the fire department and County Hazmat. The drill was held in response to a mock release of ammonia and MechRef provided instruction to the entry teams, as well as the fire departments rescue teams.
